Tiffins Restaurant, Animal Kingdom

Located on Discovery River, near the entrance of Pandora – The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is Tiffins Restaurant. This signature dining experience is one that is often overlooked, but well deserving of a visit.

Inspired by the world travels of the park’s creators including retiring veteran Imagineer Joe Rohde, the interior is thought to resemble a gallery featuring artwork from Africa, Asia and South America. We were seated in the Grand Gallery with inspiring views of the light up wildlife.

It is important to note that with the exception of Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, all of the signature dining experiences at Walt Disney World are kid-friendly. For my foodie clients, I always recommend at least one signature dining experience per trip. This balances long hours racing through the parks after kiddos, no?! 🙂

For starters, we shared the charred octopus. This is nothing like fried calamari, my friends. The DH loved it and we were happy for him. 🙂 The rest of the meal was absolutely delicious, and the service was stellar.

At the end of our meal, we were presented with a keepsake card of a Prayer Wheel and Butter Offerings in Nepal.

The back reads:

It is said that each time a prayer wheel rotates, it sends forth spiritual merit in prayer. The carved bracket above the column is meant to represent a cloud. The capital is based on lotus blossoms. The little offerings area combination of a cheese-like butter and kind of flour.

Next to Tiffins Restaurant is Nomad Lounge & Cocktail Bar, where the globetrotting theme continues. I made a mental note to visit on our next adult-only trip.
