Royal Beach Club Paradise Island – Royal Caribbean’s newest beach escape

I was born and raised in The Bahamas, so whenever I hear cruise guests say they’re staying onboard in Nassau, I can’t help but feel they’re missing out. While I understand why some travelers treat Nassau as a “ship day,” I’ve always hoped visitors could experience another side of the destination I call home. That’s why I was especially curious to visit Royal Caribbean’s new Royal Beach Club Paradise Island during our recent cruise aboard Wonder of the Seas. Could it give guests a reason to get off the ship and enjoy a truly relaxing day in The Bahamas? After spending the day there with Mr. FamTrav, I think it just might.

The experience begins right at the Nassau cruise port, where guests board a ferry bound for Paradise Island. The transfer itself is quick and easy, and as we pulled away from the pier, we were treated to beautiful views of Nassau Harbour, colorful waterfront buildings, and an impressive collection of yachts and boats.

Before long, the shoreline of Royal Beach Club came into view, with swaying palms, bright blue water, and a resort-like atmosphere that immediately felt different from the busy streets of Nassau.

One detail I appreciated was how accessible the experience is. The ferry and beach club are wheelchair and stroller accessible, and the island even offers a limited number of complimentary beach wheelchairs and strollers for guests who need them.

The moment we arrived, one thing became clear: Royal Beach Club isn’t trying to be another attraction-packed island destination. Instead, it’s designed to help guests slow down.

There are no flashing water slides competing for your attention. No pressure to rush from one activity to another. The entire atmosphere feels intentionally relaxed.

The waterfront setting is exactly what many travelers envision when they picture a day in The Bahamas. Soft white sand stretches along the shoreline, while calm turquoise water laps gently against the beach.

What surprised me most was how peaceful it felt. Even with plenty of guests on the island, the layout never seemed crowded. There was enough space to spread out, find your own corner of paradise, and simply enjoy the view.

If you’ve ever felt the stress of rushing somewhere to claim a pool chair before they’re all gone, you’ll understand why this was one of my favorite parts of the experience.

Finding a lounger at Royal Beach Club wasn’t a challenge at all.

Whether we looked near the pools, along the beach, or in shaded areas, seating was readily available throughout the property. Instead of spending the morning scouting for the perfect spot, we were able to settle in and immediately start enjoying the day.

That abundance of seating plays a huge role in the overall vibe. The entire experience feels less hectic and more relaxed because guests aren’t competing for space.

For larger groups looking for a more private experience, a variety of cabanas are available for an additional charge.

While the beach is certainly the star of the show, the pools deserve attention too.

Royal Beach Club features three resort-style pools overlooking the ocean, and each one offers a different place to relax and soak up the Bahamian sunshine.

As someone who enjoys having options, I appreciated being able to alternate between pool time and beach time throughout the day. The club strikes a nice balance between the two experiences.

All three pools are equipped with pool lifts, another thoughtful accessibility feature that allows more guests to enjoy the facilities comfortably.

One of the pleasant surprises of the experience was the food. Unlike a traditional beach day where every snack and meal seems to come with another charge, dining options are included with admission.

I particularly enjoyed ordering from the menu, with favorites including the island crab sandwich and the lobster BLT.

Not everything was a home run, though. I was excited to try the guava duff, one of The Bahamas’ most famous desserts, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Still, I appreciated seeing local flavors represented on the menu rather than relying entirely on standard cruise fare.

It’s also worth noting that guests can choose between two admission options: one that includes alcoholic beverages and another that does not.

Naturally, many Royal Caribbean fans will want to compare Royal Beach Club to Perfect Day at CocoCay. After visiting both, I don’t think that’s entirely fair.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is built around variety and excitement. Guests can spend their day racing down waterslides, floating in a giant wave pool, soaring on zip lines, or enjoying family attractions across the island. The island itself is also included in your cruise fare, making it an exceptional value.

Royal Beach Club serves a completely different purpose. This is the destination for guests who want to slow down, grab a comfortable chair, enjoy a good meal, take a swim, and spend a few hours doing absolutely nothing if they choose. There’s no thrill factor here, and that’s exactly the point.

As the afternoon came to an end, we reluctantly made our way back to the ferry for the return trip to Wonder of the Seas. The process is straightforward, but there is one important detail guests should keep in mind.

The ferry drops passengers off on the opposite side of the pier from the cruise terminal, which means you’ll need to pass through Nassau port security before returning to the ship. The process is organized and efficient, but it does take time. I’d recommend allowing approximately 20 minutes, particularly later in the afternoon when more guests are returning at once.

If Royal Beach Club encourages more cruise passengers to get off the ship and discover what makes my Bahamas special, that’s a win in my book. And if your perfect port day involves a comfortable lounger, crystal-clear water, and no agenda beyond enjoying paradise, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island is well worth considering.
