Enchanting Extras at Walt Disney World Resort

As the kids get older and have fine-tuned their interests in the parks, we’ve begun incorporating more non-park days and/or seeking new-to-us activities. Here’s a look at what we did this trip, as well as an overview of other experiences offered.

Trail Rides

The tween has taken a few horseback riding lessons and jumped at the chance for a trail ride at Tri Circle D Ranch at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resorts & Campgrounds. After you’ve checked-in, you’re paired with your horse. The tween got Latte, and I got Cowboy. Both had the sweetest dispositions.

True story…one of the Cast Members casually mentioned that much like cabin stewards on an airplane, they size everyone up to pair them with a horse best suited to them. True to fashion, we arrived in a whirlwind of tardiness and apologies, and were paired with two of the calmest horses in the group.

There is a second barn closer to Pioneer Hall, where the horses that pull Cinderella’s carriage are housed. Guests can drop by during opening hours to meet them.

Mini Golf

Walt Disney World has two mini golf facilities: Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland. Both offer two 18-hole miniature golf adventures.

Fantasia Gardens is based on the feature film Fantasia, and while we enjoy both, Fantasia Gardens is our favorite.

Winter Summerland is Santa and his elves off-season retreat. The pictures below are from Thanksgiving 2020 when masks were required on the course.

Droid Depot

Discretely tucked away in Galaxy’s Edge is Droid Depot, where little {and big} Jedis training in the ways of the Force can build their own droid at Black Spire Outpost’s industrial depot. This was a special treat for the teen, who is the self-proclaimed biggest Star Wars fan ever.

By the way, if you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible to spend an entire day in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the teen says yes! Our day consisted of:

  • Millennium Falcon x 5
  • Rise of the Resistance x 1
  • Lunch at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
  • Blue Milk Breaks
  • Oga’s Cantina – even got to witness the DJ trying to close down the bar 😆
  • Droid Depot

Also available in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Savi’s Workshop for hand-built lightsabers, which I’m sure is next on our list.

This is but a sample of the Enchanting Extras/Experiences available at Walt Disney World Resort. For more information, please see here and note that due to the pandemic, some experiences may not be available at this time.

If you’re thinking about a visit of your own, The World’s Most Magical Celebration runs for 18 months. Can’t wait until then? There’s lots of availability for Disney Very Merriest After Hours at Magic Kingdom. Let’s chat!
