Thanksgiving at Disney – Disney Springs

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We spent last week at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL and its taken me this long to recover and work on a blog post. LOL!

If you’ve been reading my blog long enough, then you know there is nothing traditional about our Thanksgiving. As transplants, Thanksgiving celebrations are something the DH and I never celebrated growing up, and since we can’t get Stinky or Blinky in the same room as a turkey, the idea of a Thanksgiving family vacation was born.

When I booked this trip in January, I had no idea how much the four of us would need a little pixie dust in our lives. And Disney did not disappoint!

Originally we planned to leave on Tuesday, but at the last minute decided to head out a day early. Luckily, we were able to snag a pre-night stay at Double Tree Suites by Hilton Orlando in the Disney Springs Resort Area. This is our second time staying in a Disney Springs Resort this year. The rooms are spacious, transportation to/from the parks are provided, and our suite had a kitchenette – which is fantastic for longer stays. They even sprinkle in a few Disney touches.

After check-in, we walked 10 minutes to Disney Springs. This dining, shopping, and entertainment district is the ideal way to unwind after spending the entire day in the car. The very first thing we did was enter a dance competition. Even the DH got in on the action. (However, he has expressly forbidden me from posting any videos or pictures of him tearing up the floor.)

Next we explored the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail. Through January 6, 2019, enjoy 27 character or theme trees expertly dressed for the season. Peter Pan was easily Blinky’s favorite, while Star Wars was Stinky’s. None of us quite knew what to make of the Haunted Mansion tree. Beautiful, but creepy.

While taking in the sights and sounds of everything around us, we loaded up on candy and drinks at Goofy’s Candy Company, watched Stitch surprise unknowing passerbys, and enjoyed a live performance on stage before calling it a night just before midnight.

Be sure to check back for daily recaps of our Thanksgiving adventure!
