Corfu marked the halfway point of our vacation. Based on the activities thus far, I had the forethought to anticipate the need for a bit of a break. And my timing was impeccable! We were four sleepyheads who lacked total motivation to get out of bed. And the morning rainstorms did nothing but lull us back to sleep. Our sole activity was a couple of rounds on the Crazy Sofa Tubing Ride for 11 AM. I reached out to the tour operator, moved our reservation to the afternoon, then went back to bed.
We finally left the ship just before lunch. At the cruise port in Corfu, we decided to forgo an Uber and instead rented a car to get to Sidari where the watersports are based. The drive was just under an hour, and we knew having a car would give us great flexibility with the time left we had in port. The FamTrav husband was quite pleased that he remembered how to drive a stick shift on winding, mountainous roads.

The drive was gorgeous, in spite of the overcast day.
Sidari is a quaint little seaside village brimming with British vacationers. The streets leading to the beaches are lined with apartment rentals and inexpensive souvenir shops that are impossible to resist. After a momentary sidetrack, we finally made it on to the Crazy Sofa Tubing Ride. This was so incredibly fun, the kids kept asking for more rounds!

There are other activities to choose from, including a boat rental in increments of one hour. We briefly considered this but did not want to risk missing our onboard time.
Cognizant of the time, we reluctantly left Sidari and drove to the neighboring area Canal d’Amour for a late lunch, then headed back to Corfu.
Somehow I didn’t take any pictures of the towns. But I did document our signature dining meal that evening back on the Gem, and yet another brilliant sunset from our balcony.
