Sandals Royal Barbados and Sandals Barbados

Stay at one, play at two. This phrase epitomizes the experience at Sandals Resorts in Barbados. Let’s dive in.

Last month, I was invited to attend a travel agent training at sister properties Sandals Royal Barbados and Sandals Barbados. This was my first visit to the island, but definitely not my first time staying at a Sandals Resort. I went with high expectations and was not disappointed.

Where is Barbados?

Barbados is an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. Surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean sea, Barbados has something for every kind of traveler: the foodie, the explorer, the historian, and the adventurer! I was intrigued.

Getting There

While many countries are relaxing entry requirements, Barbados still has strict protocols in place. I couldn’t help but notice several travelers (including some agents) were pulled for additional testing upon arrival as their tests did not include the method by which their pre-arrival test was performed. By booking with a trusted travel advisor like myself, I walk you through the steps to ensure you are properly prepared for your trip.

While some Sandals properties can be up to a 90-minute drive from the airport, these sister properties are a mere 15-minute drive away.

Sandals Royal Barbados vs. Sandals Barbados

My first impression was how lush and colorful everything is. I was not missing the freezing Nashville temps and gray skies!

Both resorts are adults-only, luxury all-inclusive. But the rooms at Sandals Royal Barbados are either Club Level or Butler Level. Sandals Barbados has these as well as Luxury Rooms (entry-level). The properties are literally side by side, share a gorgeous beach, and all amenities. Hence the stay at one, play at two.

As a guest of Sandals Royal Barbados, I was whisked away to Club Sandals for check-in. While waiting on my room, I enjoyed a quick lunch and walk-through of the properties.

What Makes These Resorts Stand Out from Other Sandals Properties

The resorts feature a number of Sandals firsts, including the first rooftop pool and bar, the first 4-lane bowling alley, the first gourmet donut shop, and two new restaurant concepts.

Skybar Rooftop Pool & Bar

The rooftop location is perfect for sunbathing or cooling off amidst the most spectacular views imaginable.

Lover’s Lanes

This 4-lane bowling alley and cocktail lounge are as sexy as the couples who play here. “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Right, Marilyn?!

Sweet n’ Salty’s Gourmet Donuts & Coffee

Because calories don’t count on vacation. 😉

Greenhouse

While all of the dining options are stellar, I want to highlight two new restaurant concepts for Sandals Resorts. The first is Greenhouse, a rustic farm-to-table experience.

I cannot even begin to tell you how delightfully delicious and fresh everything was! Do not miss the opportunity to dine here.

Heart & Sol

The second is Heart & Sol which serves healthy sandwiches and smoothies on the go. If you ask really nicely, you can customize your smoothie with all the fixings.

Make sure to balance those healthy meals with a few of these. Ha!

My Room

South Seas Crystal Lagoon Club Level Barbados Suite w/ Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub

Yes, it is as fabulous as it sounds! The room features elegant, modern furnishings, a fully-stocked minibar, and a private balcony with a tranquility soaking tub for two. The en-suite spa-style bathroom offers double sinks and a dual-control walk-in shower that can be private, or not. 😉

The resorts offer signature accommodations, including but not limited to the magnificent Skypool Suites, Prime Minister Suites, and Millionaire Suites. The included Butler service is the icing on the cake.

Based on your desires and the amount you’re comfortable spending, I will recommend the accommodations best suited for you. Pro-tip: when possible, always go with Butler Elite.

Entertainment

I’ve already covered bowling and want to add there is a good mix of entertainment from lawn games and pool sing-a-longs, to full stage shows and silent disco. As they say in the Caribbean, there is a lid for every pot.

There is also an aqua center with a variety of non-motorized watersports, and that facilitate snorkeling and diving excursions. Here’s Troy to tell you more.

Red Lane Spa

Sandals Resorts are known for its award-winning Red Lane Spa. And in Barbados, you get two! Each resort has its own. We toured both and got to see an outdoor couples’ massage setup over at Sandals Royal Barbados.

Destination Weddings

Thinking about getting married in paradise? Whatever you envision, the wedding team can bring it to life. Pictured below is the Coastal Living setup. All components are customizable.

Service with a Smile

I think the first two pictures below accurately convey the sentiment I’m trying to share. While taking photos before dinner one night, we had the friendliest photobomber. Everywhere we went staff members would greet us with a smile and ask about our stay. We even received a welcome song when we checked in.

Over the course of our visit, we spent quality time with the managerial staff. While learning more about the resorts and the island, we learned so much about the warmth of the people.

If Barbados is top of mind, let’s discuss a stay at either Sandals Royal Barbados or Sandals Barbados where you stay at one and play at two. I just know you’ll love it as much as I do!
