Thanksgiving at Disney – Magic Kingdom

I anticipated Magic Kingdom would be crazy busy, so I scheduled some down time for the morning. The DH and the kids hung out at the Big Blue Pool – Art of Animation’s main pool and the largest pool on Disney property – while I attended another Animation Academy class. Check out my Goofy!

After a poolside lunch, we did a quick change-a-roo then headed to Magic Kingdom. I knew it would be crowded on a holiday weekend. Typically large crowds of strangers do not bother me. But it was so wild, you could not take two steps forward without trampling someone in any direction. Still, we had a fun-filled day.

Highlights include:

  • Festival of Fantasy Parade – we had a prime viewing spot near the train station
  • Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party (which sadly ended 12/1 but will be replaced by a new dance party early 2019)
  • Riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (which broke down twice while we were in line)
  • Dinner at Be Our Guest
  • Lantern photo shoot by Rapunzel’s Tower

We met all of the princesses at Fairytale Hall, but Elena was Blinky’s favorite.

Tusker House may have been the DH’s favorite dining experience, but Be Our Guest was mine! It was just magical!! The attention to detail is why Disney stands out among its competitors. I was so excited, I completely forgot to get pictures of our meal, just dessert.

After dinner, you are allowed to tour Beast’s castle, then meet the Master in his study.

We hadn’t planned to close Magic Kingdom. Especially since we were pixie dusted extra FastPasses when Stinky lost his hat on the monorail and were able to put those to good use. However, between waiting in line for the lantern photos, and wanting to see as much of Happily Ever After while still trying to beat the crowds, we worked against ourselves. But who can complain when they’re at Disney?!

Thankfully we edged out just enough people to make the first bus in line. If you ask me, that counts as pixie dust too. 😉
