Over Fall Break, the teens and I visited Universal Orlando Resort. Our tickets gave us access to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. As you already know from my May 2025 visit, Epic Universe is phenomenal! But here’s the thing, the two parks that made this destination famous – Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure – are still every bit as incredible. Know that if you’re planning a trip with me, you don’t need to feel like you’re missing out with just the OG parks. They deliver a full, exhilarating, and immersive vacation experience on their own.

Now let’s switch gears, hop aboard the Hogwarts Express, and head into Islands of Adventure, where the volume goes up, both for imagination and adrenaline. Think Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, The Incredible Hulk Coaster, the jaw-dropping landscapes of Jurassic Park.

• It’s the kind of park where you can feel the energy shift: you’re not just watching something, you’re in it.
• The themeing is immersive, the rides deliver thrills, and there’s a sense of discovery at every turn.
• For first-time visitors, this park nails that “wow” factor that can make the trip unforgettable.

Here’s where I underscore the big point: between these two parks, you already have a powerhouse vacation.

• You get blockbuster rides, immersive storytelling, world-class dining, memorable photo moments; basically everything you’re looking for in a top-tier theme-park trip.
• Visiting Epic Universe is wonderful (and I can say from personal experience it’s next-level), but it doesn’t mean the older parks are any less compelling.
• If budget, timing, or planning constraints mean you lean into just the two, you’re not “settling,” you’re still going to have an absolutely amazing experience.
• And if you have been to Epic Universe, you’ll appreciate just how complete these original parks already are, AND and how they complement Epic Universe.
