For our quick getaway, the FamTrav Grammy and I stayed at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, the sister property of Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. From the moment you step onto the grounds, you’re transported to Louisiana. Where French Quarter immerses you in NOLA, Riverside whisks you away to the bayou where the grand white-columned mansions of Magnolia Bend, cozy backwoods cottages of Alligator Bayou, and the Sassagoula River dominate the landscape.

We had the privilege of staying in a Royal Guest Room in the Oak Manor area, brimming with fun, regal touches from Tiana and friends. Here’s a video tour of our room. It would mean so much to me if you’d like this and other videos and subscribe to my channel, which I’m working diligently to grow.

The dining options here are fantastic! Just ask Grammy. There’s Riverside Mill Food Court which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just look for the big wheel!

Boatwright’s Dining Hall is a dinnertime table service option serving Southern Louisiana fare. In my experience, reservations are easy to get. If you go, try the Lowcountry Seafood Boil!

And after dinner, be sure to mosey over to River Roost Lounge to enjoy a musical comedy show by Yehaa Bob. He had an energetic crowd the evening we popped in. There were so many people, the crowd spilled over into the hallway.

And of course its super easy to walk over to French Quarter to Scat Cat’s Cafe for delicious beignets!

There are six pools at this resort. This gives you an idea of the size of the property. The main pool is located in Ol’ Man Island, but each section has a leisure pool of its own. Like other Disney properties there is an arcade, playground, campfires, and Movies Under the Stars. There are also bicycle and surrey rentals, catch and release bass fishing excursions, and horse-drawn excursions.

And of course there’s Friendship Boat service over to Disney Springs for even more dining and entertainment options.

The only, and I mean only downside of this gorgeous property for me is the size and four internal bus stops. I’m all about rope dropping, so am usually out before the morning crowds. But man, the nighttime drop offs after park closing was brutal.
That said, Grammy and I had the most magical visit, and I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!
Try these rechargeable, portable neck fans which saved us in the August heat!
You can find them and other Disney essentials here.
